There is an on/off switch on the cord for convenience and safety, and little "feet" on the bottom of the warmer, to protect your furniture, etc., from scratching. This unit also has a long-life neon bulb in the warmer that emits light through the small holes, to let you know the warmer is on. When you turn the unit off and allow the wax to cool and solidify, simply remove the used tart and put in a new one.
